Virgin Mobile - New smartphone plans including $20 WiFi only plan

For years, my husband has kept his little clamshell flip phone from Virgin Mobile, even though most of our peers, including myself, had moved onto smartphones long ago.  Why?  Simple math.  He rarely used his phone for calling, and our old grandfathered Virgin Mobile plan was a straight 20 cents per minute, with only a minimum top up of $20 every 3 months.  So we were only paying ~$80 PER YEAR for his phone (plus tax), not $80 per month like some smartphone plans.

A few weeks ago, he declared he had finally given up and wanted to upgrade as his Christmas present.  The good news?  I had happened to be looking at Virgin Mobile's site that day, and they had revised their smartphone plans.  There was a new $20 per month "WiFi only" plan.  300 minutes of voice and unlimited texting, but no data plan at all.  95% of the time, my husband is at work (high school with WiFi) or home (also with WiFi).  With the growing number of businesses offering complementary WiFi, it's rare that he'd be wishing he had a data plan.  (Of course, he's not an internet addict like me.)  But this new plan made the decision a no brainer for us.

We'll keep you posted on how the new phone/plan go, but in case anyone else wants to check Virgin's new plans, click here.  If you join now, we BOTH get a $25 account credit!

And if you're wondering what phone we got him:

Merry Christmas Daddy!

Join me on ibotta and Snap by Groupon

The last few weeks, I've really embraced the whole "take a photo of your receipt with your phone and earn cash" apps, particularly ibotta and Snap by Groupon.   I just "cashed out" my $10 on ibotta (sent to PayPal) and am working my way toward the $20 cash out minimum for Snap.  It does take a little practice snapping photos of your receipts, but you get the hang of it!

If you haven't tried but want to, check them out here:

Chili's: Buy $50 in gift cards, get $10 GC

Chili's, as they have done previous years,  is doing a promotion where if you buy  $50 in gift cards,  you get a $10 promo gift card add a thank you.   Just realized if I combine this with my 10% cash back offer for Chili's from Bank of America deals,  it is even better!

Amazon Lightning Deals: Saturday 11/15/2014

As promised, I'm going to try to consolidate into a single post rather than the crazy post binging I've been doing on Facebook as of late.  I admit it, those Lightning Deals are addictive to look out for!

Note:  I know little about fashion and jewelry - I fully admit that most work days, I dress like the business casual equivalent of Simon Cowell, in that I just have a few pairs of the same khakis in different colors and similar polos (summer) and turtlenecks (winter) LOL.  So I will likely NOT share deals much beyond toys and housewares :-)

Happy shopping!

Update:  Eeek!  I've never used these widgets before, and I DON'T like them.  Will not use these again, because they are automatically adding the items to your carts at full price rather than taking you to the item.  Sorry!  If you add the item to your cart, then click on the link on the item while it's in your cart to see the lightning deal price.  I just got my blanket that way.  If I had time, I'd redo them but I gotta run.

Facebook is the place to be

Rather than posting here, I've been doing a lot of sharing on Facebook these days.  Check out my Sue the Bargain Hunter Facebook wall here, and don't forget to set it to receive notifications!
